Vacheron Constantin – Traditionnelle World Time

Vacheron Constantin presents this year’s exclusive version of the eye-catching Traditionnelle world time with stunning enamel dial.

I must say, I am delighted with what I can notice in the watch industry, namely the come out of the world timers, which is a great thing. We’ve got some of the fresh pieces from Girard-Perregaux, Chopard, Montblanc – which I truly adore, Jaeger-LeCoultre and now Vacheron Constantin with its updated Traditionnelle world time. But, the problem is that they are all pretty massive with at least 42mm of diameter ! The only world time I find decently sized is the newest World Time 5230 from Patek Philippe – with a decent case diameter of 38.5mm. In my opinion that except the annual calendar, world time function is most usable function to have in watch.

Let’s know focus on this new exclusive piece from Vacheron. From the very beginning we can notice the work of art dial – result of the meticulous and careful craftsmanship. This three-part dial is the mixture of the finest enamelling techniques and the effect is superb. The center part of a dial is the hand-enamelled gold world map, a depth effect is also preserved. The 24-hour disc and city names are painted on the dark blue enamel.

Everything has been enclosed in the precious 950 platinum case with a diameter of 42.5mm. It is limited to strictly 10 pieces.

Besides the traditional central hours, minutes and seconds, we get the world time indication with 37 cities as the main theme and day/night indication.

The heart, which brings to life all functions in this new Traditionnelle world time, is the Calibre 2460 WT – developed and manufactured in-house. It is  a mechanical movement with self-winding. I like the way this 22K gold winding rotor looks through the sapphire case back. Calibre 2460 WT operates at 28,800 vph (4 Hz) and provides about 40 hours of power reserve.
