Omega Supports Emirates Team New Zealand at the 35th America’s Cup (w/ New Watch Releases)

Omega is proudly backing Emirates Team New Zealand during its upcoming campaign to win the 35th America’s Cup

The challenge for the “Auld Mug” is underway and OMEGA is in Bermuda to cheer on Emirates Team New Zealand. The brand is a major sponsor and Official Timekeeper of the team, a partnership that began in 1995 alongside the legendary round-the-world skipper and America’s Cup legend Sir Peter Blake.

Stakes are high for the Kiwis who have won the America’s Cup on two occasions. The crew is absolutely determined to bring the trophy back to Auckland.

As part of its support for the Kiwi crew, OMEGA has unveiled two new timepieces.

The first watch, the Speedmaster X-33, is the model the Kiwi crew members will wear on board when racing. It is cased in grade 2 titanium and features an ingenious Regatta function to keep track of the critical five-minute countdown to the start of the race. The bezel ring features stars at the 15, 30, 45 and 60 second positions, which together reference the Southern Cross on the New Zealand flag.

The second watch, the Seamaster Planet Ocean ETNZ “Deep Black” Master Chronometer, has been made with supporters in mind. Cased in black ceramic it embraces the blue and red of the New Zealand flag.

In their quest to win the America’s Cup, the crew of Emirates Team New Zealand will be giving it their all on Bermuda’s Great Sound. OMEGA and the crew’s many dedicated supporters will be hoping that the Kiwis can lift the trophy once again.
