For 2015, Alpina shows a new chronograph watch holding up the brand’s diving history since the 1960’s with its Seastrong collection.
Seastrong Diver 300 Big Date, because that is how the new Alpina creation is called, refers to the water resistance, which is 300 meters and to the big and legible date display. New diving chronograph is a professional instrument, it can be easily readable even in the hardest conditions. It can be recognized at a glance by its distinctive unidirectional bezel (orange or bordeaux, navy blue or grey) and the oversized minute hand with the edges in the matching colour. It provides the clear reading of the diving scale presented at the bezel. This one is made of aluminium and it equipped with the feature that enables to turn the bezel only anti-clockwise, so during a diving, minutes can’t be mistakenly decreased. Moreover, a diving scale is luminous to extend the legibility in low light conditions.
The orange version of the Seastrong Diver 300 Big Date watch is the one I really like, because it is the colour I associate with the diving, water depths and generally everyting concerned with the water. And when we combine it with the durable 44mm cushion-shaped case in stainless steel, we get a pretty good watch. The screw-in crown goes with the easy grip.
The heart of this watch, which brings to life all chronograph functions is the AL-372 swiss quartz movement. It features the long lasting battery with 48 months of life. When you get the quartz watch, you are calm about the precision, because you don’t have to wind the movement. You can just enjoy your time in style, by using the Seastrong Diver 300 Big Date as an everday use watch or as the professional diving instrument.
The 44mm case features the black dial with contrasting hour markers and hands with luminescent coating. The small seconds hand, oversized minutes hand and seconds hand are finished with the matching to bezel colour. The front of this watch is covered with the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
The watch is provided with the chronograph functions, which are really useful both in everyday use and diving. The small seconds are situated at 6 o’clock with the Big Date display in the aperture. The 30-minute indicator is at 9 o’clock and the 10-hour counter at 3 o’clock. The whole watch is incredibly legible thanks to the black dial, on which everything seems to contrast.
The timepiece is complemented by black sturdy leather strap and engraved case back.
