Chopard – Mille Miglia GTS Power Control
To be honest, Chopard has managed to combine those two qualities into one wristwatch. There are many design features refering to the classic racing cars like for example the black dial, which is a tribute to the aesthetic of the vintage car dashboards. A design thing I do really like about this watch is the power reserve indicator, which calls in the petrol gauge typical for the 1950s cars. The dynamisn of the race car is underlined by presence of the stylish red colour, particularly in red seconds hand, time scale around a dial and in the iconic date window at 3 o’clock. Even the watch’s attachment, namely the strap is stylised for the well-known Dunlop tyres of the classic 1960s cars.
I really value watches, which can be modern, sophisticated and include the long-lasting tradition at the same time. I think that Mille Miglia GTS Power Control belongs to this group of watches.
From the technical aspect this watch is not worse. In this case, we get a movement entirely developed, designed and assembled within the Fleurier Ebauches workshops, so we can be sure that the self-winding mechanical Chopard 01.08-C movement meets all of the quality requirements and high standards of the Chopard. Power Control refers to the power reserve indication, which in this watch is approximately of 60 hours. The movement works at the frequency of 28,800 vph.
Mille Miglia GTS Power Control watch has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 43mm. If you are the enthusiast of the more prestigious gold watches, there is a second, more expensive version of the GTS Power Control watch. It is offered with the beautiful 18K rose gold case. It is slick, sturdy and sporty. Glareproofed sapphire crystal protects a dial with a distinctive 12 and 6 big numerals and indexes with luminescent Super Luminova coating. The mentioned earlier power reserve indicator stylised for the petrol gauge of the 1950s cars is situated between 8 and 10 o’clock. A date window is in aperture at 3 o’clock. Besides that, we get hours, seconds and minutes functions. Everything seems to be legible due to big numerals, indexes and contrasting matt velvet-finish black dial and dynamic looking red elements. The water resistance in this watch is about 100 meters. At the case back we can find the presented inscriptions ‘Mille Miglia’ and ‘Brescia > Roma > Brescia’.
