Quick Look at the Rolex Explorer II 216570
Is the Rolex Explorer II 216570 best travel companion to explore the world with? I spent two weeks travelling with this watch to find out.
When it comes to Rolex watches with GMT function, we mainly have got GMT-Master II, Sky-Dweller and Explorer II, which in my opinion is a bit un-loved, it doesn’t get as much air time in social media as two other models. Fixed stainless-steel bezel makes it look a little bit different. It’s one of the few Rolex watches that people don’t recognise instantly. Furthermore, most of the people are surprised after being told it’s Rolex. But, how this watch comes out as daily wearer and travel companion?
Rolex Explorer II 216570 is housed by a bigger and more massive 42mm case, making a completely different presence on the wrist, compared to Submariner or even GMT-Master II. Everything about this watch is bigger and honestly, I buy this approach.
At first, skeptical me came out and was very careful about glorifying that timepiece. I was skeptical about horrifyingly large hands, which would cluster the whole dial. However, to my surprise, I found this watch to be very legible and clear in view. Blue luminescence is just magnificent.
I took it for my two-week holiday and made it my travel companion. Despite its bigger size Explorer II 216570 is extremely comfortable on the wrist, making long journeys more pleasant.
When you want to give it a little twist and take a break from the Oyster bracelet some, you can strap it up to the NATO strap and enjoy a very different look.
Black dial is classic option and brushed finish to the case and bracelet makes it less striking and more appropriate for daily wearing.
Interesting comparison – Rolex Explorer II 216570 versus the watch, which got me into world of watches, that’s how it all started – Gruen.
…and I’d forget about one last thing – the orange seconds hand. I love it !
