2015 year is very important for the Italy, and even more for the Milan, because of the host role during the Universal Exposition. The opening of the EXPO 2015 took place on 1 May  and it will close on  31 October. For this occasion, Audemars Piguet created the limited edition of the Royal Oak Chronograph watch to pay the beautiful tribute to both Italy and the city of Milan.

 The subtle Italian motif is included in slight details, which can be noticed for example in the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, the indices present the iconic green, white and red colours of the Italian flag. Audemars Piguet took care of the details to build a truly unique timepiece. The material of this matching rubber strap is uncommon and in fact, in the past, there was only one watch presenting the strap made of such material – Royal Oak “City of Sails”, which was created in 2002. The next feature about this Limited Edition watch, which couldn’t be missed is the caseback with engraving “Swiss Made Limited Edition”.

The chronograph has been throughout the many years inseparably associated with the history of the sports watches and now it is a significant part of the Royal Oak collection. Everything is fitted in the stainless steel case with a diameter of 41mm keeping the legendary design code. Beautiful and subtle play between the polished, satin-finished elements including the eight screws, make really great impression, just like in the 1972 model.

Heading further to the dial, we can see the decorative pattern called ‘Grande Tappiserie‘.

“Audemars Piguet crafts this decoration on antique machines according to the arabesque-making technique. This rare manufacturing process, which Audemars Piguet is proud to master and use, allows the cut of the dial and the mesh structure of the inserted slim grooves to be produced simultaneously. The overlay of the two decorations, characteristic of the Royal Oak, lends the dial a unique brilliance.“

Highly legible dial features the sub-dials and central seconds scale in the blue – matching with the rubber strap colour. Hour markers and hands are applied with the slight luminescent coating. This watch brings to life all functions thanks to the self-winding Calibre 2385 movement with the minimum power reserve of 40 hours. Besides the essential hour and minute functions, the chronograph complication includes : central seconds hand, 30-minute counter with indices in colours of the iconic Italian flag at 3 o’clock , small seconds at 6 o’clock and 12-hour indicator at 9 o’clock. A date is displayed in the aperture at 4-5 o’clock.

Royal Oak Chronograph watch in Limited edition is equipped with the 50 meters of water resistance. The watch is limited to 500 pieces and it goes with the blue rubber strap and hand-stitched “large square scale” blue alligator strap.
