Girard-Perregaux – Laureato Skeleton
Bold and sophisticated watch has arrived to the Laureato family. Girard-Perregaux Laureato Skeleton comes in two versions.
I was always a huge fan of the Laureato curves and lines of its case and fitted bracelet. Right now, besides these attributes of the classic Laureato, we got the great addition in form of the openworked skeleton movement. Interesting showcase of the horological craftsmanship has been showed with new wristwatches in brand’s iconic collection.
The thing I have to say, while reviewing these models is that I don’t usually like playing with the features especially when we are talking about this classic Laureato collection. I have never been a huge fan of the skeleton movements as well ! But, somehow I did manage to actually like the way this openworked, skeleton heart has been executed here – it just looks good. Girard-Perregaux made a great work in changing my mind about this whole ‘skeleton’ game in horology.
The size of the new Laureato Skeleton, which is 42mm of diameter, is just about right. Everything is well balanced in terms of proportions. I like the way satin brushed and polished surfaces work together and make satisfying combination.
Skeleton movements are all about showing the living side of watches. You can notice the balance wheel at 12 o’clock, which reminds you about steady, continuous pace of movement as a whole. The heart of Laureato in skeleton version is GP01800-0006, which has been seriously ‘skeletonised’ in order to make impression of ‘hollow’, when fitted with the case. It features 54 hours of power reserve and operates at 28’800 vph (4 Hz). In terms of functions presented at its dial, we can see central hours, minutes and small seconds at 10 o’clock.
