IWC Schaffhausen – Da Vinci Chronograph – Special Edition

New addition to the Da Vinci collection that shone on the SIHH 2017. Its characteristic shapes are now presented in special edition – “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation”.

By far it is my favourite watch novelty of this year. It strikes with the beautifully polished stainless steel case, which creates an eye-catching contrast to blue dial.

The dream of a young boy

“Every year, IWC Schaffhausen presents a limited special edition, part of the proceeds from which is used to help disadvantaged children and young people. On the back of the watch is a drawing by a Chinese boy, with which he won the global children’s drawing competition.”

IWC has surprised me with this year’s additions to Da Vinci collection for both men and women. Nobleness of design and technical aspect give IWC some fresh breath of variety for their range of watches. Oversized crowns and moving horns with curved lugs make Da Vinci intriguing and outstanding.

Black alligator leather strap is just a must for such elegant watch as it complements the whole design. Beautifully polished stainless steel case with a diameter of 42mm houses an IWC-manufactured 89361 Calibre chronograph movement, which is mechanical and self-winding.

This special edition watch features two legible subdials at 12 and 6 o’clock. The first one shows hours and minutes. The second one shows small hacking seconds and medium-sized date display. Besides, this watch is equipped with the flyback and stopwatch functions. Everything is clear and legible in view as ever.

Every year since 2006, IWC Schaffhausen has launched an exclusive special edition for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. Part of the proceeds from the sale of these timepieces goes directly to the Laureus Foundation and contributes to the funding of its projects. Like its predecessors, the 11th in the series of IWC special editions is a symbol of hope for children and young people who are socially disadvantaged because they have mental or physical handicaps or live in difficult family cir cumstances. “We want to give children and young people all over the world the best-possible start to self-determined lives,” explains Georges Kern, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen. “And here, sport can play an important role. In many cases, people with some form of mental impairment are particularly likely to be ostracized or neglected by society. In Laureus sports projects, they are respected and appreciated and learn how to surmount barriers. I’m proud that we can make some form of contribution.”
