This is the new Royal Oak Concept Laptimer watch from Audemars Piguet. It was created in the collaboration with the well-known racing legend – Michael Schumacher. The plan of  such timepiece was commisioned in 2010 by Michael Schumacher – the Audemars Piguet’s ambassador.

He truly wanted the mechanical watch, which can be used on the race track as a practical in use laptimer.

The challenge that Audemars Piguet had to face was pretty demanding in creating completely new and sophisticated mechanical chronograph movement, which will incorporate the double central second hands to be used in measuring the consecutive lap times. The incredible brand’s watchmaking craftsmanship allowed to elaborate, create and fit it into the Royal Oak Concept case.

So, this is what the new Royal Oak Concept Laptimer actually is. The highly sophisticated mechanical chronograph movement with double central second hands fitted in the impressive and striking titanium, ceramic and forged carbon case. This watch was created in thought of absolute precision – the technical and design precision, so it honors the accomplishments of the legendary race car driver – Michael Schumacher.

The Calibre 2923 hand-wound mechanical movement brings to life all sophisticated complications and consists of 413 parts including 43 jewels. It works at freguency of 28,800 vph (4 Hertz). Its main function – the Laptimer can register times even to one-eighth of a second. The sophistication proof of this movement stuck in details. Three column wheels control the operation of the chronograph with a laptimer.

This highly complex movement features the double central second hands for consecutive lap times indicating. It is also equipped with the flyback function, which allows the wearer to easy seconds reset. Additionally, the new Royal Oak Concept Laptimer watch presents the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock.

This watch draws its modern and striking design from the powerful and fast formula 1 car. Bold, dark appearance is held by the forged carbon case with the satin finish on the upper part and glossy-finish on the side part of the titanium bezel. An openworked dial shows the partly exposed mechanical movment.The pushpieces and screw-locked crown are constructed with the black ceramic and contrasting 18K pink gold. The front of the watch is covered with the glareproofed sapphire crystal. The see-through sapphire crystal case back complements the whole Royal Oak Concept Laptimer watch appearance. The watch is limited to 221 pieces.
