Girard Perregaux – Tri-Axial Tourbillon White Gold

Girard Perregaux - Tri-Axial Tourbillon White Gold

Girard Perregaux – an undoubted expert of the queen of complications, namely in the highly sophisticated Tourbillon. Despite the tourbillon was introduced much time ago, it doesn’t mean that the watchmakers have stopped expanding on, quite the opposite.

The proof is the Tri-Axial Tourbillon watch in white gold. Girard Perregaux moves further and creates more complex and innovative ways to conquer the  negavtive effects of the gravity. Its multi-dimensional rotating mechanism is enclosed in the convex lens, which is linked with the sapphire crystal, that’s why the whole tourbillon has a decent space for rotating.

“The balance performs a ballet that is much more captivating because of the high rotation speed of the different carriages. The interior carriage, shaped like a lyre in the Girard-Perregaux tradition, rotates once every minute. It is fitted into a structure that rotates on another axis every 30 seconds. Lastly, a third structure enables the whole assembly to rotate on yet another axis every 2 minutes. This complex mechanism is flawlessly finished, and its 140 components total only 1.24 g.

The whole movement of this spectacular watch is something more than just a movement, which powers a timepiece. It is a real work of art. The GPE09300-0002 is the manually wound mechanical movement. It takes an almost 160 hours for the watchmakers to assemble the whole movement consisting of 317 parts. It features a power reserve of about 60 hours.

Let’s begin with the design of this exceptional watch. The hours and minutes are displayed as the small sub-dial, to expose the majesty of the main complication, namely the brilliant tourbillon – it gives the impression as it was closed in the bubble. By looking at the top of this bubble with a tourbillon we can see the part of the movement. The interesting approach to the design of this watch is a dial with a vertical grid, which partly reveals a masterpiece movement. The power reserve is being displayed in the interesting way in the arc-shaped indicator. Everything is set up within the 48mm case made of white gold. Domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal is applied at the case back.

The watch goes with matching alligator leather strap in black colour.

The whole watch is very elegant and classy in its design. Harmonious and proportional intention is a little bit shaken by this arc-shaped power reserve indicator and a vertical grid dial. But, these things make this timepiece very compact. Another great story told by Girard Perregaux in its Tri-Axial Tourbillon watch.
