The new watch with a new name and new movement, namely I’m talking about IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar. It took 5 years to develop the Annual Calendar, but the effort was worth it.

Portugieser Annual Calendar is the prove that the brand is ready for introducing the innovations and developing in-house watchmaking knowledge.

Portugieser Annual Calendar is both aesthetically and technically beautiful. The best-known, classic appeal of the Portuguese collection combined with new in-house (52850 Calibre) movement that can be easily visible through the sapphire crystal back. The stylish annual calendar placed at the top of a dial gives this watch an additional grace and closes the gap between a perpetual calendar and a simple date display.

The new in-house mechanical (calibre 52850) movement with Pellaton automatic winding is enclosed in the 44,2 mm of diameter case. It features an incredible power reserve – 7 days (168h). The movement’s design is as magnificent as the outside look of the Portugieser Annual Calendar watch. The most eye-catching thing is the rotor with 18K gold medallion. The movement is equipped with a two barrels giving this watch higher torque demanded to power three display discs. When fully wound, these two barrels provide the energy, enough for 7 days of runtime. The balance wheel is made of special beryllium alloy (Glucydur), features indexless balance.

The dial of the Portugieser Annual Calendar is very proportional, we can feel the harmony between the subdials at 9 o’clock, 3 o’clock displaying seconds and a power reserve. From 11 to 1 o’clock we can see the new complication – an icing on the cake, namely the annual calendar. It consists of 3 windows displaying month, day and date. On both sides of the sapphire glass, there is an antireflective treatment. The midnight blue dial contrasts really well with stainless steel hands, arabic numerals and a case. But this configuration is just 1 of 3 available configurations.
